Our School Day
Redlands has the strong community feel of a village school in an urban setting.
We want to care for your child and see that they are properly supervised on the school site. Staff will be on duty 10 minutes before the start of the school day and 10 minutes after the end. For this reason we ask that no child arrives before 8.40 am and that all children are collected promptly at the end of the day.
Key Stage 2 (Junior) children are allowed to enter the building from 8.40am and go straight to their classrooms. Key Stage 1 children will remain outside on the playground until the whistle is blown at 8.50am.
The school sessions are as follows:
|8:50 am – 10:30 am||
First teaching session
|10:30 am – 10:45 am||
|10:45 am – 12:00 pm||
Second teaching session
|12:00 pm – 1:00 pm||
|1:00 pm – 3:15 pm||
Third teaching session
(Younger children have another break in the afternoon)
We try to dismiss children promptly but inevitably this is sometimes not possible. 3.15 pm is the time lessons end, not necessarily the time children leave the building. Children aged 4 – 7 are not dismissed until the teacher can see a known adult to collect them safely. This system has the full support of our current parents with whom we consulted on this matter: our children’s safety is taken very seriously.
The school office is open 8.30 am – 3.30 pm. Out of these hours, an answerphone will take your message which will be received at start of business the following day.
